Region of Murcia
Proyecto : The road begins on the Heraclean way
Hannibal Barca's influence in what is today the region of Murcia was significant during his campaigns in the Iberian Peninsula. His father, Hamilcar Barca, established Carthaginian control over the region, fortifying key locations and securing alliances with local tribes. Hannibal continued these efforts, using the area as a base for his operations against Rome. The region's strategic importance provided resources and a staging ground for his famous crossing of the Alps. Archaeological findings, such as coins and fortifications, attest to the Carthaginian presence and influence in the area during this period.
