Where did Hannibal cross the Alps?

Proyecto : From the alpine challenge comes the legend

Hannibal crossed the Alps to go from the Rhône valley to the Po Valley. Between the valley of Rhône and the summit of the Alps, the slope is gentle and passes through Gap. The descent to Italy is steep. Several passes are possible and it is likely that the army was divided into several groups to facilitate the progression.

In this hypothesis we would roughly have the following distribution:

  • The infantry at Col Agnel
  • The cavalry at Col de la Traversette
  • The elephants at Mount Genèvre
